Bye Bye Compromise
Today would have been our 45th Wedding Anniversary. I'm going to raise a glass to my darling husband Steve, thank him for allowing me to be me. I want him know that I have the best store of memories to look back on. I miss him dreadfully but I'm now doing exactly what he wanted me to do, which is to do whatever makes me smile!
Decisions are all down to me now! On a good note, this is called freedom but the flip side means I'm completely responsible for my own mistakes. I've realised over time exactly how many decisions we made were a compromise. When it comes to decisions that's when I miss Steve most as I'm not very decisive. We didn't have much in common at all really so one thing I've realised is how many things were a compromise.
Decorating - I wanted vibrant colours - He wanted Magnolia - So we bought pale green
Holidays - I wanted Asia/ Africa/The Arctic - He wanted Cornwall - So we went to Italy, Portugal, France
Cars - I wanted sports cars - He wanted 4X4's - So we had estate cars / hatchbacks
Evenings - I wanted to go to clubs and party's - He wanted to watch TV - So we went out for meals.
Entertainment - I like Theatre/ Opera - He liked toy fairs - So we went to art galleries
The kids and grand kids were something we definitely had in common. Steve would be so proud of them now I know it. Michelle has set up and is doing well with her own small business. Rik's business is doing well and he has bought and completely renovated a house.
Josh is working full time as a carpenter and doing well at Motocross. Tommy's playing football for Oxford Utd Youth Team. Alex is incredibly settled at school and loves participating in green power car racing and Harvey is not only a computer whiz but still on track to be a celebrity! Cheers Steve, Happy Anniversary without you none of these wonderful kids would exist. We made good ones.
