Venice - Better Late Than Never
We loved Venice and went many times. Apart from the food and wine we had connections so usually went for Venice Carnival. I'm interested in the making of costumes and stocked a range of masks from a wonderfully talented mascareri based in Venice. The costume shops are fab, Steve and I went to some of the the best grand balls and events, thrilling magical times that will stay with me forever.
Steve was always clear and precise about what he wanted and expected!!! He was always clear that he wanted me to keep enjoying myself. He insisted I renew my passport shortly before he died as he said he wanted to pay for it. He also bought me a new map as the one we always used ws worn out with bits unreadable. His wish was for his ashes to be scattered in Venice and for me to have a lovely holiday to recover. He also knew I'll also keep popping over to visit now he's there. Including future Venice Carnival events
Steve's funeral plans and arrangements were limited by lock-down. Travel to Italy was impossible during the pandemic. However; Here we are - better late than never!
The trip was poignant so not easy but the most luxurious wonderful way to mark the end of our amazing life together. There could be no better ending to that chapter of my life and no better way to package up memories of our life together. I'm so proud and grateful to him. Flying home without him was particularly difficult but our wonderful kids and grandsons keep my spirits high and remind me he is where he wants to be now. Venice is where we were always 100% happy, we relaxed from morning till night. That feeling will never ever change for me it's even more special now I know he's there waiting for me. RIP darling xx
